A: Anyone 18 years of age or older can book a charter. Fishing charters are booked for many reasons:
A: Per USCG regulations, fishing charters are limited to Six Persons per boat, no matter the age — but no worries!
If you have a large group, seven or more persons, this will become a multi-boat charter.
We have three boats and can accommodate up to 18 customers. If you have more people, we will then include boats from the Kenosha charter fleet.
Multi–boat charters should be booked as soon as possible due to the availability and coordination of boats/schedules.
A: No fishing experience necessary! We Welcome Everyone from Beginners to Pros. Many beginners have reeled in some very large fish. There are no age limitations! Your Captain and Deckhand are more than happy to provide coaching and pass on tips for the best way to reel in the fish.
A: Depending on the weather, the following items are recommended:
A: If you are of legal drinking age, you may bring alcoholic beverages on the boat. Cans and plastics are preferred over bottles (as glass can severely damage fiberglass if dropped & broke). Illegal substances of any kind are not allowed.
NOTE: You will be denied boarding if heavily intoxicated / under the influence – no exceptions!
A: A fishing license is required for any individual 16 years and older. These licenses may be purchased prior to the trip. The most convenient way is online. Click GoWildWi to purchase your license. A Wisconsin Two–Day Fishing License is $14.00 and includes the Lake Michigan Salmon/Trout endorsement.
We recommend that you DO NOT purchase your fishing license until the DAY BEFORE the trip, once final confirmed with the captain. By this time, we typically know if we’ll be fishing or not based on the weather forecast. We are not responsible for the cost of your license in any way.
A: Per fishing regulations, a limit catch, for each person on the boat, is five fish. A limit catch is always the Captain & Deckhand’s goal.
A: Lake Michigan offers some of the best in class sportfishing and most diverse in SE Wisconsin, with the highest catch rate per client. Species include: Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, & Lake Trout. When inquiring about a month, please ask which species listed, typically dominate the catch for that time.
A: We understand emergencies/changes in plans may come up — it is our policy that any change to your date or cancellation must occur by 14 days before your scheduled trip. Inside of that time, we may not be able to accommodate a new date, and/or you risk losing your deposit. Extenuating circumstances will be considered, please make sure to discuss directly with your captain.
A: The Lucky Lyle fleet are all 40ft class boats and can fish in all kinds of weather, but no matter what — safety comes first! If weather reports are looking unfavorable, the captain will reach out to you before the trip to let you know there is a chance that the charter may need to be rescheduled. We are constantly tracking weather during our season and do our best to give our customers plenty of notice but sometimes (although rare), we may not cancel until the time of your trip. The captain’s decision is always final. Again, safety comes first!! If a cancellation occurs, your deposit is never lost, due to weather-related cancellations.
A: No, we supply everything. The type of fishing is trolling and the captain & deckhand will set the lines. If this is your first time out, don’t be shy — ask questions about what we’re doing.
A: We offer complete fish cleaning services at no charge. We will also bag your catch for travel home.
A: Yes – a 15% to 20% gratuity is customary. The captain & deckhand work very hard, putting customers on fish, cleaning & bagging your catch, in addition to ensuring you’re safe and having a good time.
